Hair Routine For The Colder Season

29 November 2017

I have bleach ravaged hair. I long to be blonde again but it is a simple no as it is so damaging for anyone's hair. So I have been spending a lot of time trying to nurture my hair and get it back to good condition.
A year ago I was platinum blonde and I loved it. But what began to become horrible about it was the price it was costing me every 6 weeks... £90 down the drain quite literally. Not only was the price not healthy for my bank balance but my hair began to resemble chewing gum. Yes chewing gum, that dreaded stretch to the hair whenever you try and brush it when it was wet or semi dry. A year on and a good few haircuts, hair masks, oil etc and simply not putting bleach on it and I am almost there.

So if you are like me, always on the lookout for a new shampoo/conditioner and a deep hair mask, it can be easy to stick to your favourite however your hair feels like it gets used to it? So they almost feel like they have stopped working. Fortunately though I was kindly gifted by NU SKIN their shampoo, conditioner and hair mask to try.

The word moisturising stood out to me, as that is what my hair needs... lots of moisturise. So I was keen to give these a go, considering how cold it has been, this has allowed the colder season to take its toll on my already dry hair.

So to point this out, I wash my hair every 2-3 days. I can't wash it every day simply because it is too much effort and I also can't go without washing my hair no longer than 3 days as my scalp will become a dry itchy mess. It's not pretty in the slightest. So once I am in the shower, the first thing I like to do is make sure my hair is submerged in water. I like to add a dime size amount of NU SKIN Moisturising Shampoo into the palm of my hand. I add this to my scalp only and not the ends and start massaging the product into my scalp.

Why is this shampoo so good? It contains cotton bloom extract which smoothes the cuticle and protects the keratin structure of the hair. It also contains shea butter which also fills in the cracks of the cuticle to increase the hair strength - something I definitely need for that chewing gum hair.

I thoroughly rinse this shampoo out and then grab a dime amount of the NU SKIN weightless conditioner. This is perfect if you have thick hair like me, your hair can often feel heavy on it's own and nobody wants a conditioner that is going to weight the hair down more. But if you are also like me and have damaged hair, sometimes the usual conditioner is not enough, hence why the hair mask becomes your best friend daily.

NU SKIN Renu Hair Mask, this is my second tub of this and it is my favourite. It has made my hair much stronger to the point where it no longer stretches and pings and then snaps off. I can run my fingers through my hair and it doesn't snag. What is so good about this stuff? Well it contains creatine.. which again helps the strength of the cortex of your hair. Which is simply why my hair can lift weights now... joking of course, but it has transformed my hair!

I tend to leave the hair mask on for 15 minutes which is the ending duration of my shower. This allows the product to really penetrate the hair shaft in turn making it moisturised and healthy again.
